DRIVER CPC
It
won't go away, it's definitly here to stay and YOU
NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
For
Bus or Coach drivers the deadline is September 2013. For
Lorry drivers September 2014. After
those dates - if you don't have a valid DRIVERS QUALIFICATION
CARD you cannot drive professionally and if caught doing so
may face a fine of £1000 (and the same applies to whoever
employed you).
In
most cases all you need to do is complete a single
7 HOUR TRAINING SESSION each
year to
GET QUALIFIED and STAY QUALIFIED.
You MUST have completed 35 hours (5 days) of training by the deadlines
above.
If
you haven't 'got any training hours in' by now then you're falling
behind and you need to catch up.
There
isn't a
PASS or FAIL. There
are
NO EXAMS or
TESTS. The DRIVER CPC is attendance only.
Yes
it means going back to the classroom and you might not have been
in one of those for years, but it's nothing to worry about. Book
a course - Turn up - And be prepared to learn.
THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT.
The
DRIVER CPC is all about PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT. REFRESHING your knowledge, LEARNING
new skills and putting them into practice. You'd be surprised what
you've forgotten over the years.
What
about when 'Bill at the burger van' told you 'this and that' about
the rules and regulations? Did he really know the score?
"Nah
mate, I'm tellin ya, you can drive for 5 hours without no breaks
if you're on a digi card and the transport manager can't do a
thing about it! Honest - I've been doing it for years! What do
these flamin managers know eh? They aint out 'ere drivin are they?
Nah ...... trust me mate, I've been in this game long enough."
'Burger
Van Law' ....... something we can all do without.
Of
course you may be sitting there reading this and thinking it's all
your boss's problem - well you'd be wrong! The DRIVER CPC
is YOUR qualification. It's part of YOUR licence and
it's legally YOUR responsibility to get qualified.
Of
course whoever you work for might organise DRIVER CPC
courses for you - they might even pay for it or offer you a subsidised
rate - but what if they don't? OK it means they aren't the best
boss in the world but meanwhile you need to get on with it and sort
it out.
Click
on the CALENDAR on the left, choose
a date a book yourself on a course. With a full 7 hours course for
only £60.00 including upload fee & VAT it's not too bad.
We offer training on SATURDAY & SUNDAY as well to help you fit
it in with your working week. (Although remember
any training may count as 'Work' and must be accounted for within
your working week)
Alternatively
- give your boss our number and ask him to call. We can arrange
courses at your place of work, during the week, at the weekend -
whatever suits. We can sort him a deal he can't refuse.
